September at Nomos
The first month of spring has been action-packed for team Nomos! Here’s just a few of our highlights:
- This month has been busy assisting visa applicants with health concerns. In light of the recent change to the Department’s health policy, we have had a number of clients seeking our advice to better understand how the changes may affect them. While strategizing with our new clients to make sure they get the best outcome, our existing clients have had a number of health waivers successfully decided to the delight for all concerned.
- One of our corporate clients underwent a major sponsorship monitoring exercise this month, involving a site visit, staff interviews and a considerable amount of paperwork. Fortunately, we have worked with this client over a long period of time so addressing the Department’s requests was simplified as we had complete records for the client. This was a timely reminder that monitoring is a stressful process for all standard business sponsors, even for corporate sponsors who do the right thing.
- It was a busy month of community events as well. We took part in ‘Strike for the Climate’, deeming the 20th a meeting-free day. We attended the Sydney Business Executive Association dinner in support of Mary’s House, a shelter that supports women and children experiencing family violence. Kathryn was invited to participate in a number of panel discussions, focussing on diversity in the workplace. Perhaps most importantly, Team Nomos won the 2019 Women Lawyers Association of NSW ‘Lawyers on TV’ Trivia Night! Our Office Manager Jake was definitely the star of our team; his love of legal dramas certainly came in handy!
That’s the Nomos wrap-up for September. See you in October!
